The Brave Exchange

Beverly Berry, Founder and CEO of The Brave Exchange, is a dedicated health equity leader with over 15 years of experience in deceased and living donor education and advocacy. Born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama, Beverly later moved to Auburn, where she graduated from Auburn High School. She went on to pursue her passion for public health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), earning an undergraduate degree in Community Health Promotion followed by a master’s degree in Public Health. Beverly is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), credentialed by the National Commission for Health Education, further establishing her expertise in public health and community advocacy.

Beverly’s extensive career includes serving as an executive health equity director for a national nonprofit, where she developed strategic partnerships with a wide array of diverse organizations to address and reduce health disparities. Her work has resulted in several co-authored publications focusing on equitable access to healthcare, particularly in kidney transplantation. Beverly’s experience as a living donor navigator was instrumental in co-developing the framework for UAB’s Comprehensive Transplant Institute Living Donor Navigator Program, designed to simplify the process of finding a living donor and ensure patients didn’t face the journey alone.

Guided by her roots in Tuskegee and a career dedicated to health equity, Beverly founded The Brave Exchange to provide continuous, accessible support for waitlisted kidney patients and their advocates. She leads The Brave Exchange with a vision rooted in inclusivity, empowerment, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring all patients have the resources and support they need to seek a life-changing transplant one brave exchange at a time.
